In collaboration with the Dutch Cycling Embassy, ThinkBike Workshops offer cities a transformative opportunity to reimagine urban mobility. These intensive, hands-on sessions bring Dutch cycling experts to your city for two to three days of interactive exchange with local planners and decision-makers. The goal? To co-create a cycling network that is safe, inclusive, and accessible for all – just like in the Netherlands.
As part of the ThinkBike workshop held in Gdańsk in May 2025, Movares Smart Urban Engineering joined a two-day international exchange focused on sustainable mobility, transport accessibility, and urban quality of life. The event united Polish and Dutch experts, local authorities, and mobility professionals to explore innovative solutions for integrating cycling with public transport.
Simone Jorink, a specialist in user-friendly bicycle parking infrastructure at Movares, delivered a standout presentation on the design of station areas and bike parking facilities. Drawing on best practices from Dutch cities like Utrecht and Amsterdam, she emphasized intuitive design, accessibility, and multimodal connectivity. Her session highlighted how well-designed bicycle parking can elevate station functionality and contribute to vibrant, healthy urban environments.
Her presentation offered practical design principles – such as clear routing, social safety, and integration with urban surroundings – providing actionable insights for Polish stakeholders developing station areas and active mobility strategies.
A holistic approach: hardware, software, and orgware
An integrated cycling policy goes beyond infrastructure. It’s built on three essential pillars, as described in the previous project: hardware, software, and orgware. By combining these elements, ThinkBike Workshops empower cities to create cycling environments that are not only functional but also deeply embedded in the urban fabric.
